Trio Orelon
Symphonic density, homogeneous sound, “chamber music intensity and emotionality” (FAZ) – these qualities were already attributed to the TRIO ORELON shortly after its founding.
In the last two years alone, the Trio Orelon has won numerous national and international prizes, including First Prize and audience prize at the ARD International Music Competition, First Prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work at the “International Chamber Music Competition” in Melbourne and First Prize and the special prize for the best performance of the commissioned work at the “Schubert und die Musik der Moderne” competition in Graz. In addition, the Trio is a Prize-Winner at competitions such as “Premio Trio di Trieste”, “ICM Pinerolo-Torino”, the Schumann Competition in Frankfurt and the Mendelssohn Competition in Berlin.
Violinist Judith Stapf, cellist Arnau Rovira i Bascompte and pianist Marco Sanna came together at the music universities in Cologne and Berlin. The piano trio formation offers them the greatest possible musical and also human harmony: in the trio, the three take a curious and dynamic look at the works of their constellation and combine this with an irrepressible energy and desire for differentiated expression. Concert tours took the Trio Orelon throughout Europe and to renowned concert halls, including the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Beethoven-Haus Bonn and the Gewandhaus Leipzig. The three musicians present innovative thematic programmes in which they combine classical repertoire with lesser-known and undiscovered works. In the course of its repertoire research, the Trio developed the project “Beethovens Töchter”, which deals with the seldom performed literature of female composers and relates them to their ancestor Ludwig van Beethoven in guided concerts. In the summer of 2022, the Trio’s debut CD with works by the American composer Amy Beach was released on the “Da Vinci Classics” label.
The Trio was artistically supervised by Prof. J. Aner at the HfM Berlin and since 2022 has been mentored with Prof. Thomas Hoppe at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.
